Westboro Baptist…Uh..Church?

I really don’t understand these people. Protesting at everyone’s funeral just to get on TV? Or, as they claim, to “save our souls.” Even if their motives are what they say they are, they’re going about it the totally wrong way. This is more of a rant than I’ve put up so far, but I hope to show that it follows a sound logical reasoning.

They’re not stupid (although they may be totally immoral). They are aware that the public is heavily against them. If this was just any protest, that might not be so bad; they’d just be trying to get their point heard. But in the case of this group, wouldn’t public favor be good for them? All I’m saying is if they wanted to save our souls, they should go about it in a way that doesn’t make them look crazy. I wouldn’t try to stop someone from jumping off of a bridge by yelling and telling them how stupid they are. And since the church isn’t protesting in a more civilized manner, I can only logically conclude that they’re media whores.

The Ku Klux Klan held rallies and participates in scare tactics, but for what reason? They weren’t doing it for religious reasons, they just plain hated anyone who wasn’t white. Their protests could be as evil and as violent as they wanted, because they weren’t trying to seem sympathetic or helpful.

By no means am I comparing the Westboro Baptist Church to the KKK (although they do share a comparable hate for difference). There is a similarity, however, in both group’s indifference towards public opinion.

If concerned with saving everyone else, the WBC wouldn’t go about their work in such an un-Christianly manner.
